On Monday 28th November 2005, Gordon Brown hosted HOPEHIV’s launch of generationAFRICA at 11 Downing Street, London. Guests included Jonathan Edwards CBE, Karen Millen (fashion designer), Roger Davis (Barclays UK) and Andre Vos (Captain of Harlequins Rugby).
Gordon Brown welcomed the guests and personally endorsed generationAFRICA sharing some of his own experiences in Africa. HOPEHIV patron and BBC broadcaster Jeremy Vine interviewed Susannah George, director of GoLD, a generationAFRICA partner, and Kurt Hendricks, a 17 year old peer leader from Cape Town. Kurt is just one incredible example of the thousands of young African leaders’ that generationAFRICA will identify and equip to transform their communities and nations over the long term.
